Tikhonov, Vyacheslav

Vyacheslav Tikhonov (1928-2009) was an actor, a People's Artist of the USSR (1974), Hero of Socialist Labour.

He was born in Pavlovsky Posad of Moscow region. In 1950 he graduated from Acting skills faculty at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK).

He played in more than 50 films. He became well-known with the distinguishing roles of Matvey Morozov (It Happened in Penkovo, 1958) and Viktor Raisky (Extraordinary Accident, 1959). The greatest role of Tikhonov was a Soviet spy Colonel Isaev (Stierlitz) in a serial film Seventeen Moments of Spring (1972).

A state-of-the-art specialized 3D seismic research vessel is named after Vyacheslav Tikhonov. It can deploy eight streamers. Unique technological solutions have been used for the construction of seismic vessel Vyacheslav Tikhonov. The vessel is registered in the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and works under the state flag of the Russian Federation.
